You want a revelation; some kind of resolution…

I was too busy to blog yesterday (Mom’s birthday and then a New Year’s Eve party… sort of), so I’ve decided to round up my December resolutions and lay down my New Year’s ones all in one go.

December Report Card

1. Exercise. B+! I didn’t do perfectly, but I did actively exercise, and I did much much more than I had before—regularly, too. I didn’t exercise as much as I would have liked, a lot of times it slipped my mind, hence the low grade. However, the fact that I managed to get five or six workouts in this month makes me very proud of myself. 🙂

2. Read three books. A—I finished A Tale of Two Cities late on Monday night.

New Year’s Resolutions

I’m only making one, because I feel like it’s the most important—and that’s to spend more time with my family. I have less than a year left at home and I’ve kind of been awful at being a part of the family unit. I spend most of my time upstairs or hanging out with friends, and I really need to unplug sometimes and be with them. I take it for granted now, but soon enough I’m going to wish I’d taken advantage of having them around when I did. So I’m going to make the most of the time I have left and spend more time with them.

What are your New Year’s resolutions? Do you have any? Do you think they’re ridiculous?

Also—the first book I’m reading in 2014 is The Beautiful and Damned, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which I’m really excited for. (Also, Liverpool is back at 4th after defeating Hull City this morning, with the beautiful Steven Gerrard back on the pitch… This year is shaping up to be a great one.)

Thanks for sticking with me for yet another year, it means so much to me. 🙂

Best wishes,

Did I Say Tomorrow? Obviously I Meant “Not Tomorrow” (May Report Card)

Oh gosh. Hi. I am the worst. Please hate me.

Now that we have that out of the way, I am going to pretend I don’t keep forgetting to blog & act like everything is totally fine.

Yep. Totally fine. It’s not like I have the biggest cello auditions of my entire high-school career next week, and it’s not like I’m starting with a new teacher – the principal cellist of the symphony – after that… Oh no, that’s not happening, and even if it were I wouldn’t be stressed out about it, of course not… Heh…. Heh…

I’m slowly descending into madness. Don’t mind me.

Hopefully after my auditions, I’ll get back into the regular swing of blogging. I feel slightly hungover from going to see Mahler’s 3rd symphony last night, so please excuse any and all lack of enthusiasm/tired ramblings… I didn’t get much sleep and I have a rather large headache.

Anyway it’s June 1st how did that happen. I’m a bit late on wrapping up my May Report card, but wrap it up I shall… I feel really good about this month; though I can’t remember all my resolutions, so I probably failed one thanks to not being able to actually… remember… it. xP

1. Videocall with my friends more often. A! I probably tripled the amount of video calls I did, which was awesome. Getting to see my friends’ faces and voices is so amazing. 🙂 I would give myself an A+, except I never got to do a call with Julia or Kira, so I wasn’t totally successful.

2. Get back into my spiritual reading. F. Big fat F. I probably read one chapter of Interior Castles this entire month. (This must’ve been the resolution I’d forgotten about.)

3. Write my 2013 Summer Bucket list. B – I wrote the bucket list, but I don’t think it’s finished yet. I just don’t have a lot of ideas. Leave comments with fun summer things to do so I don’t spend it watching Phineas and Ferb!

February Report Card & March Resolutions

Good evening, my friends. I have saved just enough time online to write you guys a post tonight. Eggplant parmesan is in the oven, homework is sitting neglected to my right, and Frank Sinatra is crooning over the sound system… The door is open because the weather’s nice (well, now it’s closed because Mom just shut the dog out, but just pretend my house is tranquil, wouldja?) and I’m just sleepy enough to be at ease instead of cranky.

All right, I’m running out of time with this ridiculous blithering… It’s time for the dreaded report card.

1. Do something worthwhile.
Grade: B

I don’t give myself an A in this because while I did a lot of good things, I still spent too much time on the internet. (I have learned to ignore my screensaver, so that didn’t work…) But I have cut down, especially since the start of Lent, and I’ve filled it instead with reading, knitting, and all that schoolwork I like to ignore.

2. Be more charitable.
Grade: A-

I caught myself a couple times being a grumpy old judge-a-pus, and have been making an effort to be kinder. This morning my brother and I had this exchange that kind of captures my inner turmoil on this resolution.

Me: Did you cut holes in your sweatshirt?
Him: There was already a hole, so I cut more so I could put my fingers in.
Me: *raises eyebrows*
Him: Did you paint your nails with white-out?
Me: No! It’s just white nail polish. It’s modish. And at least it’s not sweatshirt vandalization.
Me: I’m sorry. Your sweatshirt looks cool. It’s neat what you did with the sleeves.
Him: And your nails are cool. Or pretty. They’re pretty cool.

Basically, I’ll say something rude without thinking and then backpedal because I realize it was uncalled for. It’s a work in progress.

3. Get more sleep.
Grade: B

I’ve found myself making the effort to go to sleep earlier, but I did pull some late-nighters this month. Therefore, B.

Out with the old & in with the new! Onto the March resolutions!

My March resolutions are rather simple, I’m afraid.

1. Spend time outside.

The weather is lovely right now and I spend entirely too much time on my bum inside. I need to go outside sometimes; get some fresh air and the like. I want to start a vegetable garden, but we’ll see what happens. My parents have a bunch of other projects on their hands right now. 😉

2. Keep my room clean.

Enough said, probably.

Well, that’s all for me tonight, folks. My books came! And I’m about a hundred-fifty pages off the end of Les Misérables – unfortunately, I have some tidying and history work to get to tonight, so it might be a while before I get to read as much as I wish. (I need summer! :()

Best wishes!

ETA: Contest winner announced momentarily!

December Report Card

Before I do anything I, as always, have some orders of business to attend to.

1. Thank you all for your prayers for Fulton. We have had lots of good news – his sisters are keeping us updated: they aren’t going to have to amputate his hands, and his eyes are undamaged. They’re taking the breathing tube out today and he might be walking soon. Praise God! Still, he’s going to be in the hospital for six months for treatment, so continued prayers are so, so appreciated.

There’s a fundraiser going to help cover some of the costs of the treatment as well as travel to and from the hospital, and other needs of the family. Do not feel at all obligated to donate, but if you can and would like to, it would mean the world. Everything helps.

2. On a slightly less serious note, the 78th episode of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries came out and it is a doozy… I’ve watched it eight times. It’s amazing. If you’re caught up in the series and haven’t watched it, GO WATCH IT.

3. New blog theme. Opinions? The sidebar still exists, but only on pages that aren’t the homepage, for some reason.

December Resolutions

So, my report card. For once I did well! …ish.

Resolution #1: Finish most of my Christmas gifts on time.
Grade: A!

I managed to get all my Christmas gifts finished (with the exception of my dad’s and Essie’s, who gave me permission to be late) and given to the people they belonged to on time! 🙂 I’ll try and get photos of them and post them soon.

Resolution #2: Be a little more organized.
Grade: B-

I did okay on this, towards the end of the month – I went on a silent retreat that really snapped me back into gear. Unfortunately, that was only two weeks out of December, so I can’t grade myself any more highly than that.

Resolution #3: Work on SAT math.
Grade: B

I did, but not with as much diligence as I should have. (Also, I’m dodging it right now to write this so… Heh.)

Resolution #4: Remember the whole point of Christmas.
Grade: A+

Midnight Mass did this for me. Just gorgeous.

Seeing as January is already halfway over (I can’t believe it – gah), I won’t set any resolutions this month, besides my New Year’s Resolution. 😛

As always, resolutions come from She Learns as She Goes.

Expect a post on Sunday – I’m off to color some pictures for my mom. Important business here at my house.

My Report Card

A quick post tonight because it’s late and rather exhausted – I spent all day on the road driving home from my aunt’s house.

Since it’s the end of the month, it’s time for my report card on my resolutions! If you’ll remember, I posted about my resolutions for the month of July in this post, with the promise to grade myself at the end of the month.

First resolution: journal every day.

Grade: A-

I did journal most days, but there were a few days – once or twice while I was in Florida, and then these past few days at my aunt’s – when I forgot to do so. Hence, A-.

Second resolution: turn off the TV/laptop.

Grade: D

I probably deserve even an F here, but IN MY DEFENSE, my grandparents leave the television on basically all the time, and while I was in Florida, there was basically nothing to do besides goof around on the computer. And then I bought Portal 2. As they say: the rest is history.

Third resolution: eat healthier.

Grade: B

I didn’t eat the healthiest, but I did try to cut back on portions and chips, and opted for healthier choices at restaurants. (Vegetables and mashed potatoes instead of fries, etc.) Not fabulous, but better than nothing. (I still gained, like, three pounds from sitting on my butt for nearly three weeks, but ah well. *grumbles*)

Anyway. Not the most stellar report-card I’ve ever had – it’s actually abysmal… I’m a straight A student. Do you think this is going to affect my college applications? 😛

Better luck next time. I’ll be sure to have my August resolutions up soon!

Have a great week.
